Bikini Waxing & Laser Hair Removal Edmonton

Bikini Hair Removal? We got you covered!

Types of Bikini Hair Removal, Edmonton

Trends change throughout the years, from the 70’s low-maintenance shag to the 90’s thong-th-thong-thong-thong landing strip. Whether you’re booking waxing or laser hair removal, knowing what to request when making your appointment is important to prevent confusion.

French, s’il vous plait..

French bikini hair removal offers more options for shaping and further removal. Most of the hair is removed from the front leaving a small patch of hair, this includes removal from underside, and excludes the backside. The flattering little v-patch will bring the hairline down 2-3 inches from the bikini line, and give you most coverage at the top and taper neatly into the back. Opt for the symmetrical strip down the centre for a little more coverage. This look will bring the hairline straight down toward the underside, giving you a clean underside.

Brazilian

Contrary to popular belief, the traditional method of Brazilian bikini hair removal does NOT leave you free of all hair below the waist. The traditional method leaves only a small strip down the centre. This look was modeled after the thong bikini bottom worn in Brazil which leaves little to the imagination, but still leaves a “little”. So for you thong sporting ladies, a Brazilian bikini wax will give you the same flexibility with shape and coverage that the French bikini wax offers, but also clears any unwanted strays from the backside leaving you confident from any angle.

Once upon a time in… Hollywood

Who needs hair down there anyway? If this is your motto then opt for Hollywood bikini hair removal and liberate yourself from pubescent hair growth. The name is influenced by the adult industry associated with the provocative nature of the famous city of fast cars, bright lights, fame, and fortune. This method will clear all existing hair from front to bunny tail leaving you G-string ready all around. Many spas will refer to this technique as a Brazilian, so make sure to clarify with your technician.

Eyebrow Lamination Edmonton

Located in Edmonton, AB., Dérmica offers eyebrow lamination amongst other brow services in our vast spa menu.

Check out before and after pics of the brow service that gives you that “fluffy” look for full, thicker brows.

Before and After Gallery

How does it work?

Eyebrow lamination involves securing the hair in an upward stroke pattern, then setting them into place with a gentle brow perming solution. This simple procedure is generally done in 1 hour and lasts 4-6 weeks.

Does eyebrow lamination cause damage?

Frequent perming of the brows can cause damage to your brows. We recommend waiting 6 weeks between appointments. Exposure to some perm solutions can also cause reactions to sensitive skin such as itching, redness, etc. Certain conditions or medications compromise the skin. In other words, while the perm solution may be safe, other steps in the lamination process make the service unsafe for some clients.

If you are new to Dérmica, your service provider will conduct a consultation through the use of an intake form. If you are a returning guest, please advise your service provider of any changes to your health or medications. This will help us ensure your service goes smoothly.

Ingrown hair removal Edmonton

How can I get rid of ingrown hairs and bumps on my face and scalp?

Let’ start by understanding the cause of these bumps on the scalp…

Razor bumps are often caused by close shaving and barbering techniques. The shaved areas of the skin endure micro-trauma over the protrusion of the hair follicle. The damage is often due to dull blades, excessive pressure, repeated passes, and/or shaving against the grain.

Our skin’s natural response to trauma is to repair and rebuild the damaged tissue, causing a blockage over the opening of the follicle. This blockage prevents the hair strand from breaking through to the surface of the skin. The hair strand will continue to grow and coil back into the skin causing it to swell.

What treatment is recommended for getting rid of these bumps?

Our preferred method to treat scalp folliculitis is with salicylic acid peels or ‘Acne Treatment”. Known for its exfoliating and anti-inflammatory benefits, Salicylic Acid is an effective solution for this and other skin conditions.

What to expect during your treatment…

Salicylic acid is applied to the area for 2-8 minutes and can be layered to intensify the treatment. The acid penetrates deep into follicles where it loosens and softens the oils and buildup. This allows for the hair to become dislodged as the skin begins to shed the excess layers above the follicle opening.

The treatment takes 30-45 minutes and may require manual extraction of the trapped hair. The chemical peel process is repeated 3-4 weeks apart until desired results are achieved, on average 4-6 sessions are required for maximum results.

What should I be doing at home?

Products containing Salicylic Acid are great for at-home treatment. Regular use of these products will continue the treatment process and boost results.

TIPS

Proper home care is key for maximizing results and preventing future breakouts. Here are some tips to follow:

  • Keep the area dry and clean.
  • Avoid wearing headgear for extended periods.
  • Do not shave down to the skin with razors.
  • Use electric trimmers with a guard to avoid close shave.
  • Exfoliate skin regularly.
  • Avoid picking at live skin.

While the visibly bumpy appearance on the skin is the most common concern, other far more concerning issues can arise from these bumps on the scalp. These skin flare-ups can cause scarring, permanent hair loss, bacterial and fungal infections. In severe cases, your skincare specialist may suggest a visit with your doctor for testing or diagnosis before commencing treatment.

Our role is to help improve the general health of your skin through professional care, products, and care recommendations. Call to book your complimentary phone consult with one of our skincare specialists!
