Large pores
A common skin concern amongst our male clientele is enlarged pores on the nose area. Usually what happens is over time the pores become slightly larger as we age and expose them to daily stressors, for example, hot showers. Because the pores grow larger, they are more susceptible to collecting and clogging up with oil/sweat/products/debris/etc. This clogging provides a darker colour making the pores stand out against the rest of your skin.
To treat this concern, we recommend starting with a PORE facial to extract the pores in preparation for phototherapy. Photofacials will help reduce the size of the pores. As a result, your pores will be less susceptible to collecting oil/sweat/products/debris/etc and will stay clear for longer periods.
Redness and broken capillaries
Another common skin concern for men is facial redness and broken capillaries. Redness and broken capillaries could be due to conditions such as Rosacea, couperose skin, sensitized skin, or simply genetically sensitive skin.
These types of conditions are characterized by frequent, consistent redness, and visible redness and broken capillaries. If left untreated these conditions can worsen, or mutate the skin’s texture. Men with beards can get laser treatments to address these types of concerns.

Most clients are able to get through their appointment just fine, however, waxing can be painful in sensitive areas. You may take an anti-inflammatory 30 minutes prior to your appointment to reduce discomfort and inflammation following your visit. This is specially great for those prone to ingrown hairs or major irritation.
Waxing requires 24 hours downtime, therefore, we recommend no swimming, sweating, fragranced products, or sun exposure.

Can I tweeze between waxes?
Tweezing between eyebrow waxes is perfectly fine. However, we recommend only tweezing the hair that grows slightly below the brow line. If the hair is too close to the brow line, leave it to the professionals! Precision is hard to achieve with tweezers. By leaving the hairs close to the brow line, over time your technician may be able to give you a thicker eyebrow, even if you can’t visualize it now.
What are the disadvantages of eyebrow waxing?
For many people, eyebrow waxing can make a huge difference. However, clients with thin or sparse brows may find little difference after the service. These clients may achieve a more satisfying look with brow lamination or microblading.
IPL and LASER are different permanent hair removal procedures that have a similar purpose and achieve similar results.
They achieve their results by emitting a specific range of light energy towards a specific target in the skin.
IPL and Laser are both safe and effective treatment methods for treating skin conditions and permanently reducing unwanted hair. It is important to remember that results vary with both methods, there are specific guidelines to follow pre/post treatment, and number of sessions can range from 4-12.
LASER (Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation)
Lasers operate by emitting a single wave of steady or pulsed laser light into their target. Depending on the manufacturer of the laser equipment, some lasers are not suitable for all skin tones or skin conditions. As a result, the technician is required to use different attachments or machines for treatment.
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)
IPL technologies project flashes of light energy onto the surface of the skin. The handheld device is placed directly on the skin and flashed at set intervals. The device emits a broad band of light energy into the skin, which is then quickly absorbed by the target. The diameter covered by the spot size varies and is ideal for larger areas.
At Dérmica, we offer IPL treatments for skin care and hair removal solutions. Our chosen technology is safe and customizable thanks to its ‘DPC’ technology. DPC stands for Dynamic Pulse Control. The DPC technology means that we can determine the “aggressiveness” of the treatment based on the duration of the pulse- shorter pulses are more aggressive, delivering the light beam in a shorter period of time, while longer pulses are less aggressive as they have a longer period to deliver the light beam. The different range of pulse durations results in a major increase in the safety and effectiveness of the treatment.

Lash Lifts work in 3 easy steps! The first step is to open the bonds in the hair, giving flexibility within the mid shaft where the curl is found. The second step sets the lashes into position and seals the hair shaft. The third step reintroduces moisture back into the lashes.
Lash lifts can last up to 12 weeks depending on after-care products used and thickness of lashes. Minimize rubbing and use gentle products on eye area. Thick lashes are more resistant and will fall faster than thin lashes.
Lash Lift and Tint
You must also avoid water, makeup, and pressure on the lashes for 48 hours. Afterwards you can return to your regular routine and products.
It is recommend that clients wait 12 weeks between lash lifts. This allows your hair to recover and regenerate new growth.
Before Booking, are there any allergies you should be aware of?
It is rare for reactions to occur as the products are kept strictly on the lashes. People who have sensitivity to latex are not recommended to have the service, as the adhesive used does contain latex.
If you have ever reacted to artificial lash glue used for strip lashes, you are at risk of having a reaction. Typical allergic reaction will cause the eyes to swell for up to 72 hours.
