Dermaplaning Side Effects
Are there side effects to dermaplaning?
Like all services, dermaplaning can have side effects including:
- Irritation caused by the superficial abrasion of the skin.
- Sensitivity to strong products and cosmetics.
- Redness as a result of stimulation of the skin that draws impurities to the surface.
Are the side effects to removing the peach fuzz from your face?
Vellus hair, aka peach fuzz, no longer serves the purpose it used to. Past functions of vellus hair included protection from the elements. However, today we wear sunscreen, makeup, moisturizer, serum, etc.
An additional benefit of vellus hair would have been heat insulation. Again, we have other means of providing that protection, for example, scarves.
How often should I dermaplane?
If you are doing it for the hair removal aspect, 6-8 weeks. If it is for skin rejuvenation purposes, every 8 weeks.
