Dermaplaning Whyte Ave

dermaplaning whyte ave

Located on Whyte Ave in Edmonton, Alberta, we offer dermaplaning in our skincare service menu. Dermaplaning is considered to be superficial and is safe for most people. There are typically no side effects from this skin treatment.

Why dermaplaning

The process immediately brightens the complexion, evens skin tone, and leaves the skin feeling supple and smooth.

The technician gently grazes a medical-grade scalpel over the surface of the skin. This process delivers a fine shave that removes the dull surface skin and vellus facial hair.

Lighten and Brighten.

Dermaplaning helps to remove hyperpigmentation. This process is most effective when combined with the AHA BOOST or  Vit C BOOST. The dermaplane process will clear the surface of the skin. As a result, deeper penetration of the acid is attainable to target specific conditions.

Can it treat acne?

In our professional opinion, we do not recommend dermaPLANE as a primary means of treating acne. The risk outweighs the potential benefit when compared to other more effective methods of acne treatment.  Try our Treatment Selection Guide to see our recommendations.

When will I notice my results?

The results of dermaPLANE are seen immediately following the procedure. The goal is to leave the skin feeling softer and looking radiant. Contrast is most evident when comparing the appearance before and after service, in those who have major build up and visible hair growth.

Are there any side effects?

There are typically no side effects from the procedure. Your skin may feel slightly exposed and sensitive for 1-2 hours following. It is recommended that with any professional skin care service extended sun exposure is avoided for a minimum 24-hour period.

Boost with Dermaplane: The added benefits

dermaplaning benefits
April 2021 Special: Free BOOST ($55 value) w/ a full face Dérmaplane treatment.

What are the dermaplaning benefits?

Dérmaplane brightens the complexion, evens skin tone, and leaves the skin feeling supple and renewed.  The results  are seen immediately following the procedure.  Additional benefits of dermaplaning are smoother and hair-free skin.

What are peel boosts?

Peel boosts are classified as mild skin acids. BOOSTS can be used to pre-treat the skin before transitioning into stronger skin peels. In addition, they are great for seasonal maintenance and anti-aging. Furthermore, they can be added to your dermaplaning service to amplify results.

Please review the treatment criteria before booking your treatment. There is an expected downtime of 1-3 days depending on your skin.

Choose your Boost

👉Retinol and Vitamic C

A great choice if your goal is to improve skin elasticity and decrease wrinkles. Moreover, it suppresses excess pigmentation.

1% Retinol stimulates collagen production and cell turnover, meanwhile, Vitamin C provides protection. It scavenges and destroys reactive oxidizing (think ‘rusting’) agents and other free radicals.

👉AHA (10-20%)

This peel boost relieves dry skin. Similarly, it reduces fine lines and pigmentation. Ideal for dry or mature skin.

👉BHA (10-20%)

Used for treating active acne conditions, this peel boost cleanses and decongests compromised skin. Ideal for oily skin.

👉Enzyme

The enzyme peel boost gives your skin that gentle boost it needs to self-regenerate and repair.  Ideal for all skin types.

Dermaplaning Side Effects

dermaplaning side effects

Are there side effects to dermaplaning?

Like all services, dermaplaning can have side effects including:

  • Irritation caused by the superficial abrasion of the skin.
  • Sensitivity to strong products and cosmetics.
  • Redness as a result of stimulation of the skin that draws impurities to the surface.

Are the side effects to removing the peach fuzz from your face?

Vellus hair, aka peach fuzz, no longer serves the purpose it used to. Past functions of vellus hair included protection from the elements. However, today we wear sunscreen, makeup, moisturizer, serum, etc.

An additional benefit of vellus hair would have been heat insulation. Again, we have other means of providing that protection, for example, scarves.

How often should I dermaplane?

If you are doing it for the hair removal aspect, 6-8 weeks. If it is for skin rejuvenation purposes, every 8 weeks.
