Lash Lifts work in 3 easy steps! The first step is to open the bonds in the hair, giving flexibility within the mid shaft where the curl is found. The second step sets the lashes into position and seals the hair shaft. The third step reintroduces moisture back into the lashes.
Lash lifts can last up to 12 weeks depending on after-care products used and thickness of lashes. Minimize rubbing and use gentle products on eye area. Thick lashes are more resistant and will fall faster than thin lashes.
Lash Lift and Tint
You must also avoid water, makeup, and pressure on the lashes for 48 hours. Afterwards you can return to your regular routine and products.
It is recommend that clients wait 12 weeks between lash lifts. This allows your hair to recover and regenerate new growth.
Before Booking, are there any allergies you should be aware of?
It is rare for reactions to occur as the products are kept strictly on the lashes. People who have sensitivity to latex are not recommended to have the service, as the adhesive used does contain latex.
If you have ever reacted to artificial lash glue used for strip lashes, you are at risk of having a reaction. Typical allergic reaction will cause the eyes to swell for up to 72 hours.
Located in Edmonton, we offer Lash Lift and Tint services in our spa menu. This popular service creates lift, curl, and definition to your natural lashes. The results are immediate and last between six to eight weeks.
Tint on darker lashes?
Often clients will opt for the lash lift with tint even when they have darker eyelashes. This is because it creates a bigger contrast which makes the eyelashes really pop! Especially for clients with lighter coloured eyes, adding tint to the lash lift results in the eye colour appearing brighter.
Is it safe to tint my eyelashes?
We use specialized dyes on eyelashes that have a relatively lower peroxide content of 3% as opposed to hair dye. The role of peroxide is to open up the seal of the hair.
Peroxide pops the scales of your hair up so the colour can tuck itself into the cuticle of the hair. Eventually you mask it and seal it back up. Higher percentages really open up those scales often resulting in split ends. The wider the scales are opened, the harder it is to close them once you’re done.
Relatively speaking, the 3% found in the specialized tint is very mild. It won’t completely open the hair, just enough to deposit the colour.
Lash Repair
If you love Lash Lifts and you get them regularly, we recommend treating the eyelashes with a daily conditioner will help to repair and strengthen the lashes. There are a few options available for lash and brow serums to boost the health of natural lashes. At Dérmica, we retail Adoreyes Lash and Brow serums in-store or online.

During a lash lift, we use different sizes of silicone pads to “lift” each lash individually and create a subtle, natural looking curl. There are many benefits to the lash lift, let’s review a few.
Clean and classy curl finish
The full and natural yet perfect look is not the only benefit of a lash lift, but it’s a top one!
No artificial glue left to strain lashes
When it comes to the preservation of the integrity of the hair, lash lifts are gentler on the lashes in relation to other eyelash enhancement methods. For example, lash extensions require each lash to be connected to an artificial lash with adhesive 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. With the lash lift, you process one time and then work on repair.
Cost effective, no fill required
The lash lift is a very low-maintenance service in comparison to other methods. Less frequent required visits is another benefit of the lift. Someone who can’t devote time every 2-3 weeks to fills would prefer the lift because you are looking at 6-10 weeks before you need another lift (depending on your natural lashes).
Lashes remain washable and makeup friendly
You’re looking at 48 hours post-treatment where you have to be cautious. However, after this period your lashes are safe for normal wear.
Located in Old Strathcona, Dérmica offers Lash Lift services. A Lash Lift is a natural eyelash enhancement. It creates curl using a reverse perming process. Lash Lifts last around 8 weeks. Taking good care of your lashes after a Lash Lift will help them last to their full potential.
Lash Maintenance
Don’t worry, it’s easy! The cardinal rule is keeping the eyelashes dry for 48 hours immediately after your Lash Lift. After that, maintenance mainly consists of cleaning and brushing.
Maintaining a youthful appearance through the eyelashes
There are so many ways that we age. For example, our eyes and lips get smaller, our noses and ears grow. Plus, we start growing hair in undesired areas, and the hair we want starts to thin! This includes eyebrows and eyelashes. So, Lash Lift or no Lash Lift, if you would like to preserve your eyelashes, we have some tips for you.
Cleanse
Help your eyelashes fight the aging process by cleaning them with a gentle cleanser after having worn mascara or eyeliner. This is a good way to keep your eyelashes as strong and thick as possible as you age.
We recommend the Lily Anne Foam Bubble Wash and Cleansing Brush. Apply in small circular motions, gently work 1/2 pump of wash over lashes with your lash brush.
Treat
Treating the eyelashes with a growth serum is recommended for those 30 years of age plus. This is because this is the time that our lashes start thinning. Try the Adoreyes Eyelash Enhancing Serum. Apply to clean lash line, 1-2 times daily.
Makeup
Stick to mineral-based mascara whenever possible. It’s hard to find waterproof mascara that washes away with ease. Usually, there is a price to pay for waterproof mascara. That is, they ate hard to remove. We recommend the Glo Skin Beauty Waterproof Mascara. This mineral-based mascara gives non-flaking, smudge proof, waterproof all day wear, while washes away with ease.

What can go wrong during a Lash Lift?
It is rare for reactions to occur as the products are kept strictly on the lashes. People who have sensitivity to latex are not recommended to have the service, as the adhesive used does contain latex.
If you have ever reacted to artificial lash glue used for strip lashes, you are at risk of having a reaction. Typical allergic reaction will cause the eyes to swell for up to 72 hours.

The first step is to open the bonds in the hair, giving flexibility within the mid shaft where the curl is found. The second step sets the lashes into position and seals the hair shaft. The third step reintroduces moisture back into the lashes.
How do I care for my lashes after the treatment?
Avoid water for 48hrs, therefore, coming to your appointment with freshly washed hair will be of benefit.
You must also avoid makeup, and pressure on the lashes for 48hrs. It is recommended to sleep on your back in order to avoid bending the lashes overnight. Using a lash comb to lift and operate the lashes will help set.
Afterwards you can return to your regular routine and products.
Located in Edmonton, Dérmica offers lash lift services to maximize your eye beauty. What the lash lift does is gently perm the eyelashes using a formula specifically created for the eye area.
What does the lash lift process look like?
The process typically involves a two-step process similar to hair perming. It gives the natural lashes a curl and lifting effect which gives the appearance of fuller, extended lashes.
How long does the lash lift last?
Maximum results are seen during the first few weeks after the service. But any effects it has on the natural hair strand will remain until that hair is naturally shed. Everyone’s rate varies but typically you’re looking at 20% shedding and regrowth every couple of weeks for the lash and brow areas. With that being said, you’re looking at 6-10 weeks.
Is a lash lift better than eyelash extensions?
In terms of safety, a lash lift and false eyelashes are about the same. If someone has sensitive eyes they will react to anything being placed on the eyes, for example, makeup or products being used in a service.
As far as the side effects on the natural lashes, a lash lift would have less potential side effects when it comes to the wear. During the service, we use and remove the products and thats the end of that. There is nothing left on the lashes such as products or tools that apply extra weight. On the other hand, with lash extensions you have an adhesive that you’ll be wearing until that lash sheds. Plus, it does add weight regardless of how amazing the technician and the products are. it’s still weighing on your lashes.
Does crying affect lash lift?
Crying will have negative effects if you’re doing it early into the 48-hour period. Unfortunately, it is going to have an effect on the longevity and efficacy of the service. It is important to keep your lashes dry during this period.
However, if it’s beyond that 48 hours it should not affect the wear- unless you’re rubbing your eyes a lot, applying pressure, or bending the lashes downward.
Do you still wear mascara with a lash lift?
You can apply mascara as often as you’d like. Its best to avoid oil-based eye makeup remover if you are getting a tint along with your service as this can strip your colour. In fact, any strong products over the eyes can minimize the effects. But with mascara you are good to go!
