If you haven’t heard about Shop the Neighbourhood before, it’s a free national program from Yellow Pages designed to support local businesses and remind communities that local shopping can have a far-reaching effect. On Saturday, November 28, Canadians will be encouraged to make local purchases at local businesses, such as Dermica MedEsthetics. .

The Yellow Pages team will be ON SITE in Old Strathcona on Saturday, November 28 from 10-3:30pm handing out swag to guests while encouraging you to shop local. #shopthehood

We will be accepting donations from this list as well as monetary donations to help the Youth Empowerment and Support Services continue to provide shelter, safety, and hope to youth facing difficult realities in our Old Strathcona community.

Horse-Drawn Sleigh Shuttle

On Saturdays, December 5, 12 and 19 from 1pm-5pm, two horse-drawn sleighs will move through Old Strathcona, stopping at several shuttle stop locations, each located by major parking lots. Guests are welcome to get on and off the sleigh or ride the whole route. Sleighs come by each stop approximately every 30 minutes. Last picksups are at approximately 4:30pm each day.

Sleigh rides are by donation to the and Whyte Avenue Rotary Club and the Old Strathcona Foundation . The Rotary Club volunteers will be manning each shuttle stop location that is identifiable by a giant feather flag.

Unfortunately, this year the sleigh won’t be stopping by Dérmica MedEsthetics, however, we would love for you to come by and visit us. Saturdays we are open from 10am-6pm.

It’s that time of the year again! Christmas is the happiest time of the year, and Whyte Ave always does it big!

This Christmas, we are excited to participate in the Whyte Wishes festivities that will surprise and delight Old Strathcona visitors while creating an online gift guide showcasing what’s available in Old Strathcona local businesses, including Dérmica MedEsthetics.

From November 16-December 15, snap pictures of gift ideas you’ve seen in Old Strathcona businesses and tweet or instagram them with the hashtag #WhyteWishes. Each day during the festivities, the Old Strathcona Business Association (OSBA) will grant one Whyte Wish, surprising 30 different guests by making their Whyte Wishes come true. We are very excited to see what our guests will be asking for this Christmas!
