Dermaplaning Post Care | The Essential Guide

dermaplaning post care

A popular option for skin maintenance

Dermaplaning has quickly become a popular option for skin maintenance. The exfoliation technique uses a surgical scalpel to gently smooth away dead skin cells and facial hair. People love dérmaplane because it delivers instant results.

The procedure leaves your skin looking fresh, smooth, and glowing. Proper post-care in the days after your dermaplaning service is essential to achieving optimal results and prolonging that coveted radiant complexion.

1 | FOLLOW POST-CARE INSTRUCTIONS

After your dermaplaning service, your skincare technician will provide you with a Post-Treatment Guide outlining instructions.

2 | APPLY SPF

Apply SPF 30 or higher when exposed to sun. Avoid direct exposure to sun for 48 hours.

3| USE GENTLE PRODUCTS

To prevent irritation or redness, avoid using exfoliating agents, retinol, or harsh chemicals on your skin immediately after dermaplaning.

4 | NO MAKEUP

It’s advisable to wait at least 24 hours before applying any cosmetics to avoid clogging your freshly exfoliated pores.

5 | DO NOT TOUCH

Although tempting, it is essential to refrain from touching skin to avoid any potential infections or irritation after your service.

6 | STAY HYDRATED

Your skin may experience slight dryness or sensitivity post-service. To combat this, it’s vital to keep your skin well-hydrated. Drinking water throughout your day will help hydrate fresh cells.

7 | SKIP THE HOT SHOWER/SAUNA

Hot water and excessive heat can strip away the skin’s natural oils and lead to dryness. Opt for lukewarm water instead.

Visit our online store.

8 | MOISTURIZE

Dermaplaning unveils a fresh layer of skin, making it essential to protect it from external aggressors and dehydration. A hydrating serum and moisturizer helps retain and restore moisture.

Dermaplane does wonders for your skin, leaving it smooth, bright, and revitalized. To prolong and enhance the results, following a proper routine is essential. Remember to adhere to the dermaplaning post-care instructions, keep your skin hydrated, avoid excessive heat, and prioritize moisturization and protection.

Follow these tips and get ready to turn heads with that RADIANT COMPLEXION!

Dermaplaning Whyte Ave

dermaplaning whyte ave

Located on Whyte Ave in Edmonton, Alberta, we offer dermaplaning in our skincare service menu. Dermaplaning is considered to be superficial and is safe for most people. There are typically no side effects from this skin treatment.

Why dermaplaning

The process immediately brightens the complexion, evens skin tone, and leaves the skin feeling supple and smooth.

The technician gently grazes a medical-grade scalpel over the surface of the skin. This process delivers a fine shave that removes the dull surface skin and vellus facial hair.

Lighten and Brighten.

Dermaplaning helps to remove hyperpigmentation. This process is most effective when combined with the AHA BOOST or  Vit C BOOST. The dermaplane process will clear the surface of the skin. As a result, deeper penetration of the acid is attainable to target specific conditions.

Can it treat acne?

In our professional opinion, we do not recommend dermaPLANE as a primary means of treating acne. The risk outweighs the potential benefit when compared to other more effective methods of acne treatment.  Try our Treatment Selection Guide to see our recommendations.

When will I notice my results?

The results of dermaPLANE are seen immediately following the procedure. The goal is to leave the skin feeling softer and looking radiant. Contrast is most evident when comparing the appearance before and after service, in those who have major build up and visible hair growth.

Are there any side effects?

There are typically no side effects from the procedure. Your skin may feel slightly exposed and sensitive for 1-2 hours following. It is recommended that with any professional skin care service extended sun exposure is avoided for a minimum 24-hour period.

Dermaplaning Side Effects

dermaplaning side effects

Are there side effects to dermaplaning?

Like all services, dermaplaning can have side effects including:

  • Irritation caused by the superficial abrasion of the skin.
  • Sensitivity to strong products and cosmetics.
  • Redness as a result of stimulation of the skin that draws impurities to the surface.

Are the side effects to removing the peach fuzz from your face?

Vellus hair, aka peach fuzz, no longer serves the purpose it used to. Past functions of vellus hair included protection from the elements. However, today we wear sunscreen, makeup, moisturizer, serum, etc.

An additional benefit of vellus hair would have been heat insulation. Again, we have other means of providing that protection, for example, scarves.

How often should I dermaplane?

If you are doing it for the hair removal aspect, 6-8 weeks. If it is for skin rejuvenation purposes, every 8 weeks.

Add a BOOST to amplify results!

BOOST Mild Peels

BOOST peels are classified as mild skin acids. BOOSTS can be used to pre-treat the skin before transitioning into stronger skin peels. They are great for seasonal maintenance and can be added to your dermaplaning service to amplify results.

Choose your Boost

👉AHA (10-20%)- Relieves dry skin, reduces fines lines and pigmentation.
👉BHA (10-20%)- Cleanses and decongests oily skin.
👉Enzyme- Exfoliating peel ideal for all skin types and maintaining healthy skin.
👉Retinol & Vit C- Brightens the complexion and softens the skin texture of the skin.
