Is laser hair removal effective on legs?
IPL/ LASER hair removal on the legs is effective even on light hair! Advanced IPL / LASER operating systems can now effectively treat lighter hair tones.
Hair colour plays an important role when setting expectations for treatment outcomes. The light energy pulsed by the operating system targets pigment cells found in the hair bulb. As a result, the more pigment cells present, the more energy is absorbed and therefore, producing optimal results.
How painful is laser on legs?
While LASER uses an actual laser, IPL uses pulse light. As a result, you may feel a slight, momentary sting, such as the snap of an elastic band, during your IPL treatments.
The sensation felt when the energy is delivered is described by most as a small pin-prick shock lasting only milliseconds. When graded on a scale from 1-5 for the pain felt during the session, clients will on average report under a level 3. The portion of the device that is in contact with the skin has a patented cooling system that keeps your skin slightly numb on contact.
Should I shave my legs before laser?
Yes, we ask that the hair be shaved flush to the skin. The reason for this is because the laser’s target is melanin. If there is hair that is long enough to cast a shadow on the skin or fold over on to the skin, that area will get the get unnecessary heat at the surface of the skin which may cause burns.
For first timers, you must wait at least 3 weeks after waxing or tweezing before your visit. The active bulbs are required to be intact for best result.
How long does laser hair removal last legs?
Results vary and can last between 1 – 5 years before a touch-up is required.Although IPL / LASER hair removal are considered methods of “permanent hair removal”, these treatments often require touch-ups. The typical span is 1 to 5 years.
How many sessions for hairy legs?
Body areas require longer rebooking timeframes than facial areas. The typical regimen is 8-12 treatment sessions, spaced 4-12 weeks apart, depending on the body area. Therefore, your treatment course could last up to 2 years when doing IPL/ LASER hair removal on the legs. That is to say, a successful IPL treatment course requires commitment.
The exact number of sessions will depend on genetics and personal preference. Clients report 20-60% reduction after the first treatment. Each session afterwards will reduce the remaining amount of hair by approximately 10%. Sessions are continued until the client has reached their reduction goal and growth has been stopped.
Located in Edmonton, our skin resurfacing treatment menu includes photofacials, peels, and dermaplaning.
Skin resurfacing is an esthetic procedure or personal use of an exfoliating product/tool that removes layers of damaged skin. It boosts the regeneration rate of skin cells and promotes collagen production. As a result, it enhances the overall appearance and texture of the skin. Additionally, it improves circulation and absorptive ability of the skin.
Skin resurfacing treatments
Methods of resurfacing include: chemical, mechanical, and light-based treatments.
The technician performs feathery strokes typically using a 10 gauge blade held at an angle over the skin to remove the surface level.

Chemical peels work due to their tiny size! Because of their molecular structure, these acids are able to penetrate past the acid mantle of the skin and deep into the layers beneath the surface of the skin. As a result, they separate the upper layers of the skin which causes an accelerated cell turnover rate. This causes your skin to shed and regenerate a new layer of skin in a 1 to 2 week period.
The acids used in professional peels are typically derived from natural sources and produced for safe usage on the skin. The most commonly used acids include glycolic acid, trichloroacetic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid, or carbolic acid (phenol).
Treatment or Maintenance
The number of treatments needed depends on the severity of the condition we are treating. However, even if we are not treating any major skin concerns, it’s a good idea to incorporate a couple of peels annually to your anti-aging skin regimen by the age of 30.
Peel benefits
Chemical peels are a popular choice because they offer many benefits:
Not right after but 48 hours after, yes. However, we recommend applying extra moisture to the lashes when swimming, due to the dehydrating effects of chlorine. That recommendation also applies to your hair and eyebrows. Lash serums or regular eye cream are great for added moisture around the eyes.
Chlorine
Chlorine can have a positive effect or negative effect. Trusted pools where chemical levels are balanced can have positive effects. For example, it can actually help with eczema as long as the person is properly treating their skin afterward.
Chlorine has a very drying effect on the skin and hair because of its pH level. Chlorine is very alkaline and our skin and hair are naturally acidic. As a result, chlorine throws off your pH balance. In order to recalibrate, use ph-balanced products (shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, cleanser, toners).
Can you wear mascara after your Lash Lift?
Yes, as long as you are following the 48-hour post care rule of no makeup and no soaking, you can apply mascara and are free to apply it as often as you’d like. Keep in mind that you don’t want to over-cleanse. When removing the mascara, avoid using alcohol and oil-based makeup removers.
How do you maintain a lash lift?
Maintain your lash lift by following the recommended aftercare. Avoid water, steam, makeup for the first 48 hours. After that, try to use mild cleansers around the eyes. Avoid strong astringents or alcohol-based and oil-based eye makeup removers.
What should I put on my lashes after a lash lift?
Proper Lash Lift aftercare will help maximize the longevity of your lift. You can carefully add a little moisturizer to the lashes using a spoolie brush. Lash serums work as well.

When deciding which service to go for- Microblading vs Tattoo- ask yourself two questions: How long do I want it to last? What do I want it to look like?
There are 2 main differences between microblading vs tattooing. One is the esthetic of the brow: microblading gives a natural appearance because it’s delivered strand by strand. It is meant to mimic natural hair growth and the fibres of the hair. On the other hand, tattooing has a solid finish, there is no separation between the colour.
However, microshading or powdered ombre give the same look as a tattoo but with a gradient because you are not going that deep.
The other main difference is the longevity. Tattoos last the longest whereas microblading or microshading will last half the time. A true permanent makeup tattoo lasts 5-6 yrs, microblading or microshading lasts 1-3 years.
The reason for the difference is not the product itself. Instead, it’s the depth of penetration of the layer in which you are depositing that ink. With microblading you are depositing at an artificIal layer, however, with tattoos you’re depositing closer to the dermis so you are in the deeper levels of the skin.
Different Tools
Microblading uses hand-held tools and the technician manually breaks the skin in a scratching motion. With microshading, the technician uses a power tool, however, it also used manually. As the technician is scratching with the tool, the tool is also vibrating.
Brow tattoos are delivered using a permanent makeup machine.
A tip to the wise
The thing to remember with permanent makeup tattooing is that the pigment is in the skin for very long. The actual composition of that pigment is going to change overtime. This occurs because certain colours absorb out of the skin before others. So when you see the salmon-coloured eyebrows- you can assume those are the last layers of the tattoo.
Lash lifts are a great alternative to lash extensions. This type of lash enhancement gives the lashes a natural appearance.
When it comes to the preservation of the integrity of the hair, lash lifts are gentler on the lashes. There are a couple of reasons for this. First, the lift is not an “additive” service- it works with your natural lashes. As a result, it does not require the lashes to carry the excess weight of artificial lashes constantly.
Secondly, extensions require each lash be connected to an artificial lash with adhesive 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. With the lift, you process one time and then work on repair.
Less frequent required visits is another benefit of the lift. Someone who can’t devote time every 2-3 weeks to fills would prefer the lift because you are looking at 6-10 weeks before you need another lift (depending on your natural lashes). In addition, there is less in-service time during the appointment in comparison to extensions.
Also, the lash lift is a very low-maintenance service. You’re looking at 48 hours post-treatment where you have to be cautious, as opposed to the daily care required with lash extensions.
There are many reasons why the lash lift is a good alternative to extensions.
Lash Lifts sound great! Why would anyone prefer extensions?
It all comes down to personal preference. While some people are looking for a fresh-faced appearance, others are looking for a dramatic finish.
Also, extensions provide additional length, whereas the lift provides the appearance of additional length. Extensions are good for people that can only achieve a certain length and they want more.
Do Lash Lifts damage the eyelashes?
Much like any other chemical processing service, its going to alter the natural state of the hair. Therefore, it does have an effect on the existing hair strand. It may make them dryer than usual, and in some cases (depending on the health of the lash before the treatment) it may cause some brittleness.
Pretreat to Prevent
These things are preventable by pretreating the lashes with a lash serum or moisturizer. Pretreating helps to condition the lashes in preparation for the chemical process. For example, when getting your hair done, its always best to condition and mask prior to your hair colouring service. You would take a similar approach with the lashes.
Repair
After you get your hair processed, you usually start using more conditioner or hair masks in an effort to repair. You wanna do the same for your lashes. Lash conditIoner will not only bring you back to par, but take it further by adding conditioner and enhancers that were not there before. It will replenish what you lost but also add.
